Established in 2018, the Digital Trade Alliance (DTA) is a network of digital rights and consumer groups from around the world.

The DTA was formed in order to enable greater global civil society coordination in the digital trade arena and help create an interdisciplinary understanding of urgent issues facing the global digital economy.

We seek to open a path towards transformative change in international digital policymaking by empowering consumer and digital rights groups to engage with trade policy. We advocate for a positive, rights-based, consumer- and people-facing agenda in digital trade, and in the process, push back against corporate capture of the digital trade arena.

Our alliance model seeks to build capacity and empower civil society organizations to demand policies for digital rights, equity, inclusion, social justice, and sustainable development.

We provide a space for sharing ideas, networking and collaborating to achieve change.

We seek to influence the global trade agenda by:
RESEARCH
Carrying out, commissioning, and disseminating research on pressing digital trade related issues. We believe in evidence based policy making and to this end, develop technical analyses of trade policy proposals, policy briefs and detailed reports on complex digital trade policy issues
OUTREACH
Engaging in outreach to trade negotiators, policymakers and digital rights advocates, including through participation in trade negotiations, policy forums and conferences around the world
COALITION BUILDING
Informing, training and mobilizing digital rights and consumer groups around the world to enable them to engage in the international trade space
PUBLIC EVENTS
Organizing and participating in conferences, webinars, and campaigns
